The Moroccan Kacem El Ghazzali began blogging anonymously about atheism at an early age. It got him into great trouble at his school, in his village and with his parents. After several death-threats, he had to go into hiding. The Moroccan Kacem El Ghazzali began blogging anonymously about atheism at an early age. It got him into great trouble at his school, in his village and with his parents. After several death-threats, he had to go into hiding. He was given refuge in Switzerland where he developed as a writer, blogger and public speaker. He is a representative of the International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU) at the UN Human Rights Council. El Ghazzali still receives death threats. The – according to El Ghazzali - passive attitude of the West, that tends to gloss over the more negative aspects of Islamists, aggravates him.
