His attempts to become Governor of South Carolina were blocked since (candidate-)governors are legally obliged to believe in a Supreme Being. It took Silverman eight years to change this law. He keeps on promoting humanism in his columns in Huffington Posts, his blog and during meetings with Secular Humanists of the Lowcountry, a ‘non-prophet organization’.
